Eldest daughter’s laparoscopic surgery experience went well. She no longer has a gall bladder and except for a little soreness she is feeling pretty good. The highlight of her day was when the cute anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself (her description, not mine). After he left the room, she mentioned how nice looking he was. “Oh, yeah,” I agreed half-heartedly, “I really didn’t notice.” She was right, I thought. He is cute and I most be getting too old not to notice. “Good thing you’re wearing that attractive hat,” I teased. After a couple of hours in surgery and a short time in the recovery room, we returned to her home about six hours from when we left. She slept most of what was left of the day. Keeping the dogs from jumping on her when she lies down on the sofa or the bed has been a challenge but I think they are starting to understand that something’s up.

Today we have been relaxing in front of the tube and catching up on stuff. She helped me shop online for a couple of ring tone downloads. Figuring out the perfect song for Hubby’s ring was fun. We laughed way too much for someone with a sore stomach! It was much easier and more humorous to pick out which ring tones were so wrong than to pick out just the right one. I finally settled on ‘Faithfully’ by Journey. ‘Mello Yellow’ came in second. Speaking of Hubby, he said that he had a good time at Vacation Bible School yesterday. I know the kids enjoyed him being there. He’s a good papaw!

Sarah, glad you are doing so well. I love you honey. Have kept you in my prayers. Miss you so much. The hat is just what you needed. Looks great on you.
Love you all and take care.

Whoa, nice hat! I think you could start a new trend. We’ll call it the SDM Collection. I bet everyone from Paris to New York will want one! I don’t see how the cute anesthesiologist couldn’t have taken notice and ask you out. It caught my attention. It is also good to your smile after everything you went through.
Glad to see and hear you’re doing OK after the surgery. Hope it doesn’t hurt to bad. From what I’ve been told the soreness will go away in a couple days. Let’s just hope you don’t have any more problems now. What is the gallbladder good for anyway?
Oscar and Olivia look like their normal, ornery self’s. It’s hard to tell from the picture but they look like they are seeing the picture of you in your hat and thinking “Where can I get one”? Or “Sure hope she didn’t that thing home. She’ll probably make us wear it!”
So, you had a good laugh selecting a ring tone for me huh? Hope Sarah didn’t bust a stitch. At least it sounds like you picked a decent one for me. I selected the thyme from Mission Impossible for your ring tone. I think it fits appropriately because you can be complicated and impossible at times. Even so, you are loved.
I had fun with the kids at Vacation Bible School. I pretty much just followed Brittney and the group she was leading around. She did a fantastic job as group leader and kept the kids interested in the activities and having fun. Although I didn’t see Bryce or McKenzie most of the day, I could tell they had fun when we met up at the Rally.. We were all worn out and tired at the end. Afterward we rushed home to pack Bryce and McKenzie’s clothes to go to their dad’s for the weekend. McKenzie fell asleep in her car seat on the way there.
One thing I noticed at the VBS was that, other then the men who worked at the church and lead some of the activities, I was the only Dad / Papaw there working with the kids. It’s a shame more men don’t get involved. You could see it in the kid’s faces that they enjoyed seeing a male figure helping out. From all the hugs and kind words I got, you tell the ladies liked it too. They even gave me a coupon for a free three piece chicken strip dinner at Chick-Fill-A. How cool was that!
I don’t know that I could do a whole week of VBS but this one day perked up my faith and allow me to contribute something back to the church for a few hours. All in all it was worth giving up a day of vacation to spend with the grandkids and to confirm in the simplest terms, through activities, games, and songs, that Jesus loves us one and all.
Thanks to everyone who was praying for a successful surgery. All and all it wasn't too bad of an experience. I actually forgot I had that lovely surgical hat on when I pointed out the cute doctor. When mom reminded me of it, I'd like to have hid under the blanket. No use hiding though, once he put that medicine in me, I was rendered completely helpless to hide any part of my body from him or any of the other doctors and nurses in the room. Guess a date's probably out of the question now! Oh well. I'm feeling better and better each day and will be back on my feet in a couple of days. Mom was such a wonderful help. It was weird to have someone here doing my laundry and cooking for me. It was hard to sit still and let her make the beds and vacuum the floors. I'm so appreciative of her help and we had such a good time with one another. We rarely get one on one time and I treasure it! I feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family praying for me and checking up on me. Love you guys!
Glad that Sarah's suregery is over. Yea, bet she feels much better and on the road to recovery. Love, Aunt Macel
