Bring on Summer!

Three and a half hours left of school, but who’s counting? The kids were excited to go today. It will be a fun day full of movies, games and general goofing off. The fifth grader has a pool party from 11:30am until 1:30pm, then, we are on our own to find something to do for two and a half months. I think we will be okay in that area. I just hope my energy level stays up.

Hubby left for Brussels on Sunday. I don’t think he’s been there before but I know for sure that he hasn’t been to his next stop, Angola. Yep, Africa! His words, “I haven’t been on that Continent before.” My words, “Don’t they have a lot of civil strife going on there?” Oh, well. I put him in God’s hands. He’ll be home on the 12th with two more countries to add to the places he’s traveled.

The cub scouts had a family skating party yesterday evening. My grandson eagerly put on his skates and promptly fell down. That was the end of his skating for the evening. He enjoyed the game room though. The eldest granddaughter took a friend so she had a blast. The three year old skated around for a little while in her Dora skates and then she was finished. She had fun just running around. It was a new experience for her. The last songs were the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance. Since we were allowed to go on the rink with our shoes on, everyone joined in, including me. The three year old was too cute! It was fun. I took my camera but forgot and left it in the car so I have no pictures. We didn’t get home until 9:30 pm so it was a late night for the kids. Me, too, actually! But, hey, bring on the summer!

Huh? Isn't Egypt on the continent of Africa? Dad actually has been on that contintent several times- makes one wonder if it is a result of fading memory or a lack of geographical skills?

Have fun with the kiddos for two and a half months. I have bets on your losing your mind by tomorrow morning! There's always a quiet haven in Dallas- that is if the kids remain in Houston. I love 'em, but... well you know!

I'm so sure your dad will be glad that you pointed that out. He'll be even happier about the fading memory and geographical skills comment. Now I'm wondering if he said country instead of continent. I'm actually the one with the memory problems. Could have been my mistake. Since we are correcting each other, continent only has one 't' in it. LOL Touche'.

I'm looking forward to your surgery so I can come to peaceful Dallas without the kiddos. Not really. How can anyone look forward to a surgery except maybe a surgeon. And just remember that I'm a terrible nursemaid and I have a history of fainting at the sight of my children's blood. I'm not great with vomit either so I hope you don't get sick. Still want me to come??? I love you my dear daughter and I will be there not matter what.

Yes, my spelling skills are horrible. Guess nobody's perfect. That is a beef I have with this site... no spell check before you publish. I usually paste it in a Word document before I post, I know my weaknesses! In fact I even type something in Word before I handwrite it on a card. I have no confidence in my spelling what so ever!!! Thank God for spell check and technology. The dictionary just takes too long.

I wondered if Dad may have said 'country' and not 'continent'. He actually has better geographical skills than me. Again, thank you God for Google! But, I have my memory for now and I know that’s a true gift because we get to see our future in our parents. It’s frightening at times. Just kidding! Love you guys!!!

As for your nursemaid skills, I'll try to be a good patient. They said that not many people get sick any more because they've improved the anesthetics so much. Also, there shouldn't be much blood, as there will only be four or five puncture wounds. Now I'm getting faint...I can't think about it!

Hey,

The surgery won't be so bad. Sarah will be asleep and they won't let you in the O.R. lol

I will have to argue the point of your nursemaid skills. From what I remember (which is very little) you were great. I appreciated it. I know Bill did. He was so grateful for a break.

When is the surgery anyway?

Sarah, The recovery is fairly quick. You will be really sore for the first 2-4 days. After that you will be going crazy sitting at home. How long before you can drive? I think I had to wait 2 weeks. Love you and I will keep you in my prayers.

Love you all and give the kids a big hug. Deb
